the witch, (magician) Tarot art

Here Our figures have melted into one conscious creating decisive will, an ambition that drives motive.

Their limbs create the shape of direction as they find their place in the eternal chaos of the cosmic womb. All matter draws towards them like a planet forming in the Universe.

Stones carved with the symbols they will need to master to continue on their path.

These figures are the electric spark/charge creating the first vibratory manifestation, the conduit through which the energy of chaos (undirected energy of the fool) can now flow.

You can compare this to the star in a jar experiment. Vibration is sent into an airtight vessel of water (cosmic womb) with a bubble in it. The vibration collects in the center resulting in an expansion of energy and the focused direction of force resulting in a miniature explosion, creating a star. This is called Sonoluminescence

Our characters become the wand of power themselves.

The conduction rod, channeling the current from above and below, from within and without. Their body creates a compass of direction.

Direction and movement are the second stages of sacred geometry. In the empty space of the Great Womb, the spark, the big bang, the light finds direction, outward direction forming area, angle, up, down, forward and back. The strength and will of that spark create all that comes after it, like an idea. Magic can flow up or down, it can work both ways. It is the concept of duality. You can do good will or bad will, both are your will. This is why you must use your words wisely. They wield enormous power.

Your will must be grounded/earthed (realistic), must be cooled (patient), must be sparked/ignited (driven/ambitious), must be able to breath (evolve/expand)

Our characters utilise all that is around them, becoming the master of it, Learning, expanding their knowledge to better focus their direction. They push the boundaries reaching for the skies, leaping above what they know. Soaking in the experience of life to have a better understanding of its complexities. To understand themselves better within it. Knowing thyself and what you are, and what your capabilities are, allows you control.

The Magician embodies the seven principles of Hermeticism which are

 ‘1 Principle of Mentalism

The Principle of Mentalism embodies the idea that ‘All is Mind.’

Everything that happens must be a result of a mental state which precedes it. For anything to exist, thoughts had to form first. Those thoughts then form a physical reality or manifestation. “Your thoughts are seeds, plant positive seeds in your mind garden.”

 Principle of Correspondence

The Principle of Correspondence expresses the idea that there is always a correspondence between the laws of phenomena in the various “planes” of being and life. As above, so below; as below, so above. This principle states that there is a harmony which can co-exist, agreement and correspondence between these planes, delineated as The Great Physical Plane, The Great Mental Plane, The Great Spiritual Plane

 Principle of Vibration

This illustrates the idea that motion is manifest in everything in the Universe, that nothing rests, and everything moves, vibrates, and circles. This principle explains that the distinction between manifestations of Matter, Energy, Mind, and even Spirit, are the result of only different “vibrations”. The higher a person is on the scale, the higher the rate of vibration will be. Here, The All is said to be at an infinite level of vibration, almost to the point of being at rest. There are said to be millions upon millions of varying degrees between the highest level, The All, and the objects of the lowest vibration.

Mental Transmutation is described as the practical application of this principle. To change one’s mental state is to change vibration. One may do this by an effort of Will, by means of deliberately “fixing the attention” upon a more desirable state.

Principle of Polarity

The Principle of Polarity embodies the idea that everything is dual, everything has two poles, and everything has its opposite. All manifested things have two sides, two aspects, or two poles. Everything “is” and “isn’t” at the same time, all truths are but half-truths and every truth is half false, there are two sides to everything, opposites are identical in nature yet different in degree, extremes meet, and all paradoxes may be reconciled.

( The idea is not to become polarized by your surroundings, be the one holding the string, not being the balls colliding at the end of them)

Principle of Rhythm

The Principle of Rhythm expresses the idea that everything there is manifested in a measured motion, a to and from, a flow and inflow, a swing backward and forward, a pendulum-like movement. There is rhythm between every pair of opposites, or poles, and is closely related to the Principle of Polarity. It can be seen that this Principle enables the transition from one pole to the other, and not necessarily poles of extreme opposites.

Principle of Cause and Effect

It explains that there is a cause for every effect and an effect for every cause. It also states that there is no such thing as chance, that chance is merely a term indicating extant causes not recognized or perceived. The Principle is clarified in the chapter Causation.

Principle of Gender

The Principle of Gender embodies the idea that gender manifests in everything. The authors state that this does not relate explicitly to the commonly understood notion of sex, but rather “… to beget; to procreate, to generate, to create, or to produce…” in general. Gender manifests itself on all planes as the Feminine and Masculine principles.

Mental Gender is described as a Hermetic concept which relates to the feminine and masculine principles. It does not refer to someone’s physical sex, nor does it suggest that someone of certain sex necessarily has a matching mental gender. Ideally, one wants to have a balanced mental gender.

The excerpt is taken from Wikipedia- The Kybalion, published in 1908’

This is how the topic of gender is approached throughout these works as Your mental state defines your identity, Your reality is a reality so how that looks to others is of no import. This idea of having balance in your gendered mentalism is the concept of becoming the great androgyne (like a god). So like being egalitarian on the inside and so project it outward. This is also a hint at discovering the power in the sacred unity of sex.

The ability to transcend time, in the moment of the little death, to make your will the spark that all matter clings to.

This is also linked to the Mercury symbol as Mercury is associated with Hermes.

Hekate Queen of witches

Why the Witch?:

I chose to call this the witch as, in ancient times, all magic, astrology, and spiritual thinking started with the women of the society. The first records of markings found regarding observing and calculating are those of women tracing the cycle of the moon and relating it to the Menstrual cycle and the months of labor. The cunning woman knew medicine and herbs, the Vulva was the connection to the spirit world and magic, in fact until the dawn of Odin’s placement as a supreme deity, magic was considered a feminine craft in European culture.

In Mesopotamia, women were respected as protective exorcists and Sorceresses. Witches were seen as being in touch with nature and the elements because their bodies acted and related to nature. They were also independent and not controlled by the will of man. This is how the witch slowly became a person of great healing (perimaktria- a woman who purifies with magic) to then being the symbol of the loss of all-male control and the chaos that emanates from it. It is important to recognize that all mastery of the elements and the nature of magic originated with feminine powers tied to the moon (the medium that bridges two worlds) regardless of the gender identity of the practitioner.

Air: is the first breath of new life. It is the element of thought.

It represents the mind and all its intellectual mental faculties.Going back to our Sonoluminescence experiment. Air is the first breath that gives us the ability to speak. Vibration is the third law of nature in Hermeticism. Everything is made of vibration and sound, it is the thread that sews everything together.

1: is the beginning, the germination. Its totality, the potential to be developed. It is the self. The I of I am. It links perfectly as the will, as above so below. The Magician is, in effect, the first of the three magi- The lower being, the terrestrial being, the supreme being. (magician, Hierophant, and Hermit)

When these three are united, an awakening of the conscious can be achieved… Enlightenment.

Mercury: The messenger, Hermes, Odin, Thoth, the communicator. A psychopomp – a being that can dwell in both worlds, guiding souls. In Alchemy mercury transcends both the solid and liquid states. Mercury is the spirit-mind that holds the logos.

Paracelsus illustrates in his book ‘the nature of all things’, all matter, and the alchemical Salt is a manifestation of Spirit. Mercury is The Mind of Matter.

Hermes is also the trickster god, illuminating that your mind can play tricks on you if you aren’t mentally strong. Physically mercury is a liquid found in the humidity, moisture, and fluid of different materials Alchemists experimented with. (for example, mercury was present in the blood and semen of animals) This strengthened the idea that mercury was the liquid binding the two realms of spirit and body together, Immortal with the mortal, unifying what appeared to be two separate entities together as a whole. In Alchemy Mercury was also, at times associated with the moon and therefore was also considered a feminine principle. So when looking at old alchemical artwork you find the symbol of the alchemical wedding rolled into one image of a red and white pair of dragons eating each other in a circle.

The Four suits:

The Magician must recognize and master the 4 elements like the suits on the stones

He supports his words (air) with action (fire), and he does what he feels (water) is right to achieve his goals (earth). Or another interpretation is He with the wand creatith, He with the cup preservith, He with the sword destroyith, He with the coin redeemeth.

Obviously, the 4 tools also correspond to the four suits of the Tarot, which one is trying to be the master of, the four realms of the tree of life in the Microcosm. Wands- Will/desire, Cups – emotions/spiritual, Swords- thought/status, Pentacles- possessions/homelife.

Metatron’s Cube

METATRON’S CUBE :

In the background echoing the shape of our characters is a shape known as Metatron’s cube. Metatron’s cube is a shape that holds all the mystery and understanding of the universe. Through the understanding of sacred geometry. The Archangel Metatron – the Scribe of God, Making him Thoth- Mercury, was said to be he who watches over the flow of energy in creation and provides a connection to the divine. Metatron’s Cube is a transcendental form and beautifully illustrates the mental universe through the unfolding of 2-dimensional realities into 3-dimensional realities. The Hermetic axiom reads “all is mind, the universe is mental” and Metatron’s Cube is teaching us about this conceptual mental nature of the universe. Without first being a concept in consciousness nothing could exist. Sacred geometry is the conceptual architecture on which all things precipitate. Neuroscientists from the blue brain project used algebraic topology (a branch of mathematics used to describe the properties of objects and spaces regardless of how they change shape) in a new way to peer into the structure of our brains. What they discovered is that the brain is full of multi-dimensional geometrical structures operating in as many as 11 dimensions. So you could say your brain uses Sacred geometry to think in fractal patterns. You can read about this here: Science alert

Beta:

Beta means Basis, the body of, house, the meaning or reason for something. In ancient Greek, the word βάσις was heavily linked with the oroskopos (Horoscope) the sign of one’s birth and the time and degree of the situated planets to divine ones purpose. So Beta is tied to βανκόν one’s destiny or fate.

Beta is almost an answer to alpha, Arising- A, Arising where and in with what purpose- B. notice in chemistry the smaller beta is used to denote the positions or variations of the second isomers.

This corresponds to the second house, Taurus. I have. I will.

Pythagoras said that all things in the universe have something in common, Numbers, Shapes, harmony, and stars all need to be understood to understand creation. These topics, mathematics, geometry, music, and astronomy became the four sister sciences. Each letter of the Greek alphabet has a connection to each for eg One letter = # = tone (note) what is also interesting is that if you say each letter in order of commencement it is actually an ancient invocation to the soul and light.

The practitioner must learn and understand all sister sciences in the universe to master creation. You are ever the student, trying to obtain all basis for everything in your material domain. From this knowledge, you can build the cornerstone, the base that all of your alchemy will grow from and be represented by your body of work
